JOIN US IN PRAYING FOR ST. LUKE'S On February 26, 2012 it was announced that our Incumbent, the Reverend Richard Miller, would be leaving St. Luke's as of April 15 in order to accept the position of Associate Priest at a neighbouring parish (St. Peter's, Erindale). We thank Ric and his wife Heather for their ministry with us from October 2006 to April 2012 and wish them God's richest blessings as they leave us.

We have now begun the search for Ric's successor, who will become the fourth incumbent in the 55 year history of St. Luke's. As part of this process, our Area Bishop (The Rt. Rev. Philip Poole) has announced that The Rev. Carol Langley has been appointed as our Interim Priest-in-Charge, starting on Sunday, May 6. As noted in a brief biography published in the May 2012 edition of our newsletter, Carol is in fact one of a number of former St. Luke's parishioners who felt led to ordained ministry, and currently serves as an Honourary Assistant at Trinity Church, Streetsville. We are delighted to welcome her back to St. Luke's during this period of transition. We will provide updates as appropriate regarding this process, we invite you to check The Beacon (our parish newsletter) for the latest details.

We ask your prayers for St. Luke's during this time, and pray that God will send the right person to serve as our new pastor, and to partner with us in building an exciting, positive and dynamic church that will serve our community for years to come. As a devotional aide, the following was published in the May 2012 edition of our newsletter and is also published here for those who might like to use the text as part of their prayers for our parish:

Almighty God, giver of all good gifts, look on your Church with grace and love and guide those who shall choose a new incumbent for this parish of St. Luke, Dixie South. Help us that we may receive a faithful servant who will care for your people and support us in our ministries, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A NEW LOOK FOR WWW.STLUKEMISSISSAUGA.CA Not only do all Web sites need a periodic "refresh" and update, but some changes are now required due to our search for a new incumbent . We're currently working on some updates to reflect this transition period as well as an overall new look for the Web site. This home page is a sample (although even this may also be subject to change!) Watch for it - coming later this spring!

OUR SUNDAY SERVICES are held at 8:30 and 10:30 every Sunday morning. The 8:30 service is a traditional service of Holy Communion, as taken from the Book of Common Prayer. It's ideal for people who want a quiet, traditional Anglican form of worship. If you want something a little more contemporary, why not join us for the 10:30 service. It's a service taken from the Book of Alternative Services - accompanied by music which is a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary music, as led by our music team, Joy in the Morning. On Sunday mornings during the summer season (2012 dates are July 1 to September 2), our schedule changes to one service held at 9:30 a.m. Our normal Sunday morning schedule will resume on Sunday, September 9.

THE BEACON - THE ONLINE EDITION Beginning with the August 2008 edition, our newsletter is now available to our Web site visitors. To access it, we invite you to visit:The Beacon, or use the green button link found at the top of this page.

BAPTISM AT ST. LUKE'S From the earliest days of the Church to the present, one of the most important of all Christian practices is the Rite of Baptism - the welcoming of people into the Christian family. In January 2011, we released a policy paper concerning baptism at St. Luke's, and the role that this rite plays in our parish life. If you are considering this option, whether for yourself or for others (such as having your children baptized with us), we recommend that you read this paper, which you can download using the following link: Baptism At St. Luke's
